THE PESTS

Bees and wasps are "stinging pests" and are exceedingly dangerous to humans. While these pests do have their place in nature, this place should never be your home or structure. Their stings are extremely painful and may even cause death to those who are allergic.
BUZZ KILL will keep the following pests at bay and allow you to enjoy the Ohio summer without fear of these marauding stingers.

GermanYellowjacket-big.jpg

GERMAN YELLOWJACKET

An invasive, non-native species, the German Yellowjacket is an especially aggressive member of the wasp family.
In its native Europe the species prefers to nest underground, but here in Ohio it is commonly found in buildings (attics, wall spaces) as well as in holes in the ground.

Baldface Hornet (1).jpg

BALDFACED HORNET

This unmistakable member of the wasp family has tell-tale black and white markings and is among the largest stinging pests.
The baldfaced hornet is aggressive and will sting repeatedly if its nest is threatened.
The nest, like the hornet, is similarly distinctive; it’s an oval football shape commonly found in trees or shrubbery. Nests may also be found under eaves and other protected areas of buildings.

EuropeanHornet (1).jpg

EUROPEAN HORNET

Yet another non-native species, the European (or brown) hornet is well established in Ohio. Although not known for aggressive behavior, they will sting freely if they perceive a threat to their nest.
These hornets like to nest above ground, normally in wall voids and tree cavities. And unique to the European hornet, it likes to forage at night.

PaperWasp.jpg

PAPER WASP

A familiar wasp, the paper wasp is most commonly found around the home (under eaves, deck railings and floors, and porch ceilings).
Their nest resembles an open umbrella and they will sting if it is threatened.

carpenter bee.jpeg

CARPENTER BEE

A nuisance to homeowners not because of the danger they pose to humans but because of the damage they inflict on wood, the carpenter bee should not be allowed to establish an infestation.
These bees prefer to bore into the natural wood of a deck or porch. Painted wood may deter them but they have been observed to nest in wood that has been treated with stain.
Carpenter bees will return to a previous nesting area year after year and these several generations will do serious damage to your wood structure.

HoneyBee.jpg

HONEYBEE

Beneficial and not particularly aggressive, honeybees nevertheless should be prevented from establishing a nest in your home or structure.
Honeybee nests contain wax that will melt and release honey on a structure. This honey will permanently stain walls and will attract numerous more insect pests.
So call Buzz Kill to enjoy the benefits of the humble honeybee without sharing your home with them.
